Our Grapes

Three Capes Vineyard was planted in 2015 after a site consultation with Dr Richard Smart - Jancis Robinson's viticultural consultant and an editor of her Oxford Book of Wine. Dr Smart described it as the best site in Tasmania for planting Pinot Noir.

Initial plantings of 22 clones included  Abel, MV6 - Tickleback selection, 777, 667, 115, H7V15 and 13 Smart clones (derived from Mariafeld clone of Swiss origin) gifted directly from Dr Richard Smart.

Later additions included Calera clones rumoured to be from the famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti vineyard in Burgundy.

Our Wine

Overlooking the ocean on the Tasman Peninsula, our vineyard produces cool-climate Pinot Noir with exceptional depth.

Grapes are hand picked and vines are hand pruned as a testament to our pursuit of quality.

Our French, Swiss derived and Australian developed clones give a complex and unique mix of old and new world to our unctious wines.  The 23 clones give us the opportunity to blend in the pursuit of elegance and feminine sophistication.

Each bottle reflects a singular commitment to the unique volcanic basalt , calcium rich marine mudstone and blue marl soils of our Three Capes Vineyard.

May we suggest serving these fine wines in Pinot balloons at room temperature and allow 30 minutes for them to open up and show their full delicacy and subtle power.

Nuanced notes of forest floor, bright cherry and red berry flavours, lifted by a violet perfume and supported by fine tannins.

Fine winemaking from Jimmy Watson winner Peter Dredge and his team.

A complex profile of forest floor, spice, and dark berry fruits. Chalky tannins show its Burgundian lineage and the influence of fossillised marine mudstone. 10 months in old French oak.

Already showing the benefits of some bottle age..

Released in December 2026

Tasman Peninsula Heritage

Deeply rooted in the volcanic basalt and blue marl of the Tasman Peninsula, Three Capes Vineyard captures the essence of Tasmania's cool climate. We nurture our estate-grown Pinot Noir with the nourishing influence of Norfolk Bay's cooling ocean zephyrs, resulting in wines that reveal nuanced forest floor, berry, and cherry notes, lifted by violet perfume and supported by expressive tannins.
